Katie Tyner
Associate Vice President
Ms. Katie Tyner is an Associate Vice President at The Cohen Group. Ms. Tyner leads client accounts in the technology and national security sectors and co-leads the firm’s Defense Practice. She advises clients seeking to develop government engagement strategies, pursue long-term business development and capture, mitigate geopolitical risk, and manage market entry and exit.
Prior to joining The Cohen Group, Ms. Tyner was a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, where she analyzed how executive abuses of power from the 1930s to present day have threatened the integrity of democratic institutions. Previously, Ms. Tyner interned at the Wesleyan University Investments Office, where she contributed to international portfolio projects and assessed manager performances within private equity, real estate, and natural resources asset classes. She has also served as the Director of the Miss Porter’s School Model United Nations Summer Program.
Ms. Tyner publishes actively in the field of political science, including in news outlets and scholarly journals, and has served as a Reviewer at Politics and Policy. Her recent publications have appeared in The Washington Post, Politics and Policy, and Global Justice: Theory, Practice, and Rhetoric. She has presented at several academic conferences, including the American Political Science Association Annual Conference, and currently has a number of journal articles under peer-review within the sub-fields of leadership studies, democracy studies, and gender and politics.
Ms. Tyner received her MSc in Politics Research with Distinction from the University of Oxford (Balliol College), and her BA in the College of Social Studies with High Honors from Wesleyan University. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations’ Young Professionals Briefing Series and is proficient in the R programming language.
