Senior Counselor

Lieutenant General (Retired) Edward Cardon joined The Cohen Group as a Senior Counselor in October 2019 after 36 years of distinguished service in the US Army during which he commanded troops in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, including four separate deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Most recently, Lieutenant General Cardon served as the Director of the US Army Office of Business Transformation. In this role, he helped to establish the Army Futures Command, which was the most significant Army command restructuring in more than 45 years.

Prior to that, as the head of the Army Cyber Command from 2013 to 2016, Lieutenant General Cardon transformed the command into a world-class cyber force. He led the growth from 2 – 41 offensive and defensive cyber mission teams in less than three years. He led the creation and certification for two separate operational headquarters for global offensive cyberspace operations ahead of schedule, including the cyber task force that focused on crippling ISIS. He built partnerships with some of our most sensitive intelligence agencies. He pioneered a host of advanced processes, technologies, and necessary support for conducting defensive cyberspace operations. He has been a leader in the development and application of advanced technologies for national security purposes.

Lieutenant General Cardon’s other major command assignments include Commanding General of the US Army’s 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea from September 2011 to June 2013. He created and spearheaded the initiative to transform the Division into a ROK-US Combined Division, which required a merger of disparate multi-national organizations with distinct and contrasting missions into a single, unified organization.

Lieutenant General Cardon serves on the Advisory Board for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Center on Military and Political Power. He also serves on the Advisory Board of IDS International, a company which provides training and support services aimed at mitigating multi-dimensional threats, as well as the Advisory Board for the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security, which supports the US Intelligence Community.

Lieutenant General Cardon is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and has Master’s Degrees in National Security and Strategic Studies from the National War College and the United States Naval Command and Staff College. He is married and has three children.
