Ms. Ally Sands joined The Cohen Group after receiving an MA in Latin American Studies and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). While completing her graduate studies, she interned for the United States Trade and Development Agency on their Latin America and Caribbean team, where she performed research and assistance on USTDA projects in the energy, ICT, and transportation sectors. Following her internship, Ms. Sands focused her SAIS Capstone project on the challenges to digital development in Brazil.

Ms. Sands graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama, double majoring in International Studies and Spanish with a minor in Economics. During her studies, she completed a semester abroad in Peru, an internship with a member of the Spanish Senate, and an internship in Washington, DC at the Department of State, Western Hemisphere Affairs Bureau in the Office of Andean Affairs. While at the State Department, Ms. Sands provided research assistance to various country desk officers with a particular focus on Bolivia.

Ms. Sands grew up in New Jersey, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. She is proficient in Spanish.
