Joe Costa is a Vice President at The Cohen Group. Since joining the firm in 2011, Mr. Costa has advised clients in a range of industries, including healthcare, energy, defense and security, standards and certification, and information technology. He advises leading businesses both large and small on political, legal, and regulatory factors that impact their interests. In addition, he helps clients with strategy development, market due-diligence, government affairs, and partnership building with public and private sector entities.
Previously, Mr. Costa was a researcher and assistant to the Director at Harvard University's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. He was responsible for supervising the Director's research team, executing policy projects, and supporting the management and strategic outreach activities of the Center. Mr. Costa managed the Director's policy agenda on a variety of high-level engagements, including his participation on the congressionally-mandated Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Terrorism. As a researcher, he focused on US foreign policy, nuclear proliferation, Iran, and terrorism.
Mr. Costa served as a Rosenthal Fellow on the Committee on Homeland Security in the US House of Representatives, where he helped the Committee conduct investigations, prepare for briefings, and draft reports.
Mr. Costa is a Truman National Security Project Fellow and received a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Chicago where he was a McCormick Tribune Leadership Fellow in the Program for Urban and Community Leadership.
