TOP OFFICIALS FROM STATE DEPARTMENT, HOMELAND SECURITY DEPARTMENT, WHITE HOUSE AND ARMY JOIN THE COHEN GROUP

Three senior Bush Administration officials and a four-star Army General are joining The Cohen Group, enhancing the firm's position as a global strategic consulting team with unparalleled capabilities.

The new members of The Cohen Group are:

Ambassador Marc Grossman, the former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and the third-ranking official in the State Department. One of the very few individuals to hold the rank of Career Ambassador, he also served as U.S. Ambassador to Turkey among many other positions during his 31-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service. As the Under Secretary for Political Affairs, Ambassador Grossman directed the daily operations of United States' diplomacy. Ambassador Grossman will join The Cohen Group as Vice Chairman June 6.
Admiral James Loy, the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security and former head of the Transportation Security Administration and Commandant of the Coast Guard. In addition to his nationally recognized leadership and expertise in Homeland Security issues, Admiral Loy had a stellar 38-year career in the US Coast Guard during which he commanded Coast Guard cutters on combat patrols in Vietnam and earned the Bronze Star with Combat "V" as well as the Combat Action Ribbon. In 1994, he led US forces during the mass Haitian and Cuban migrations of 1994 and led Coast Guard forces in Operation Restore Democracy in Haiti. Admiral Loy will join The Cohen Group as a Senior Counselor April 18.
General Paul Kern, the head of the Army Materiel Command and a leading figure on defense transformation, as well as a highly decorated combat veteran. He won wide respect for his efforts to direct supply chain improvement efforts, maintain field readiness, and modernize weapons systems throughout the Army while still controlling costs. Late in 2004, General Kern was tapped by Secretary Rumsfeld and the Army to head up the internal investigation into abuses at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. General Kern joined The Cohen Group this month as a Senior Counselor.
Frank Miller, the senior White House official responsible for advising President Bush on defense policy, following a lengthy career at the Department of Defense. Beginning in January 2001, Mr. Miller had responsibility within The White House for a wide range of Presidential policy initiatives in the fields of nuclear deterrence policy, strategic arms reductions, national space policy, defense trade reform, land mines, and transforming the American and NATO militaries. He directed interagency support of both Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2001, and Operation Iraqi Freedom during its pre-, trans-, and post-war phases. Frank joined The Cohen Group this month as a Vice President.

The four new senior additions join a team that already includes former NATO Commander and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Joseph Ralston and former United Kingdom Defence Minister and NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson. The Cohen Group was formed in 2001 by former Senator and Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen.
