November 2005 Secretary Cohen traveled to India to celebrate the opening of the Lockheed Martin office in New Dehli as well as to deliver an address at the Hindustan Times Leadership Conference. October October 2005General Joseph Ralston, Vice Chairman to The Cohen Group, along with retired General Klaus Naumann (former Chief of Defense of Germany and head of NATO's Military Committee), released areport in Brussels in mid- October at a gathering of European Union and NATO leaders. The report discusses European military capabilities and how they can improve their capabilities in the coming years. The report calls for reorganization of their defense spending, in order to adequately protect their interests. August August 14, 2005Ambassador Marc Grossman, Vice Chairman of The Cohen Group, authored an opinion piece on North American energy security, advocating greater energy cooperation between the United States, Mexico and Canada. The article, which was coauthored by Andr? Rozental, President of the Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales, and Thomas d'Aquino, President of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, was distributed by Knight Ridder Newspapers to several major dailies across the country. July July/August 2005Frank Miller, Vice President of The Cohen Group, authored a piece in Arms Control Today regarding the continued role of U.S. and British nuclear weapons in today’s world. Paul Kern ( Ret.), Senior Counselor to The Cohen Group, to the newly created Defense Acquisition Performance Assessment panel which has been tasked to recommend improvements to the Pentagon's acquisition process. June June 22, 2005Admiral James Loy, Senior Counselor to The Cohen Group, hosted the Coast Guard Foundation's first annual Tribute Dinner in honor of former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge. April April 26, 2005Secretary William S. Cohen, Chairman and CEO of The Cohen Group, and former Secretary of Defense William S. Perry jointly authored an opinion piece in Wall Street Journal advocating quick congressional approval of the Central American Free Trade Agreement. The two former Secretaries of Defense praised the proposed legislation for its regional economic and security incentives. Read the op-ed. April 25, 2005 Admiral James Loy, Senior Counselor to The Cohen Group, was appointed the first James S. Tyler Distinguished Chair in Leadership Development to the United States Coast Guard Academy, his alma mater. This Chair was established in 2004 to provide nationally recognized leaders an opportunity to interact with the students of the Academy and to participate in their development as leaders of character. January January 9-15, 2005 The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries hosted Secretary Cohen's visit to Beijing and Shanghai. While in China, he, Christine Vick, and Cameron Turley discussed bilateral trade issues with senior government officials responsible for finance, economics, food and drug regulations, banking supervision, national defense and international affairs. Secretary Cohen also met with top business leaders and delivered remarks to students and faculty at the prestigious China Foreign Affairs University.
